I’m not an obsessive, “gotta-have-the-latest-market-gadget” type of person; in fact, I think of myself as one of few people who sticks to learning the basics of a device or gadget to function in their day-to-day activities. However, when it comes to accessories that give said devices and gadgets some cachet, I’m all in like a high-rolling Vegas gambler at the tables
Back in November, my Dell laptop (which cost me an arm and a leg back in ’08) decided to break up with me for good and went on to die in the cemetery of defunct devices. I would have cried about it if the loss was significant, but at this point, it had been a very bad boyfriend that put me through the ringer over the years and sucked me dry financially, so I was about as done with it as it was with me.
The only problem is, its departure couldn’t have come at a worse time. How was I going to continue writing the entries to my blovel? And how could I possibly survive countless evenings of no YouTube-watching/blog-surfing/email-replying/time-consuming pinning/em? I’ve been in this predicament for months now and even considered giving my broken relationship with Dex (ex-bf Dell) the #OliviaPope treatment by fixing it, but thankfully, ’sane brain’ stepped in: why settle for the Ghost of Devices Past when I can cozy up to more attractive and friendlier models that are just waiting to have their buttons pushed? (pun intended). I can be pretty feisty, which explains my previous tumultuous relationship…
So, last Thursday night, I went to Best Buy with sidekick hubby to find my new pal. As we perused the aisles, initially confident that our final choice would rest on an HP or a Samsung for my modest spending dollars, we were approached by a sales rep named Geoff. It didn’t take long for Geoff to unload his knowledge of all things laptops and notebooks like a walking encyclopeadia of tech-related affairs. Turns out, neither one of our go-to brands are the way to go (“But it’s an HP!?” my inner voice screamed out). To hubby’s horror-later-turned-astonishment, Geoff went on to praise none other than…ACER (and then came the world’s collective outcry — “ACER? Have you gone mad?”). Yes, dear friends, an A-CER. There was talk of how Acers are built right from the get-go, unlike those well-known brands we’ve come to know and love who supposedly spend more money on marketing than on applying the proper specifications to their machines from the onset.
As Geoff went on to blow our minds with technical talk of gigabites, battery life, amazing functionalities and the likes, my mind wandered off to the land of device accessories and suddenly, the only thing that I could muster the courage to spend money on were the cute accessories that would dress up my device in style. So, after an hour of ramblings, and a quick tweet to my followers for their take (Verdict? All respondents in favour of a MacBook Pro), we left the store empty-handed because I’m a Libra and falling in love is a balancing act of hit or miss.
I’ve had my eye on the following laptop/notebook cases below for some time and I’m now thinking that perhaps, if I work backwards by buying one of these beauties, I may later be crystal clear on the laptop to declare undying love to…

I’m a fan of Marc Jacobs, but I would actually choose the second option. I like how it actually looks like a chic handbag instead of just a laptop case. Good luck with your purchases!
I love me some Marc Jacobs too! But I do agree that there is something quite special about the second option; it would definitely stand out! Thanks for commenting, Lori:)
I’m not one to chase the latest tech models either, but I too have to jump aboard the bandwagon and recommend the Macbook Pro. Being the opposite of tech savvy, anything Apple related is perfect for me. It’s never given me issues, and when my old white Macbook called it quits, the lovely people at the Apple store replaced it with an upgrade to a Pro… for free! And the cherry on top was they transferred all my data and backed it up.
Oh, and love the Marc Jacobs case!

Thanks for your feedback, Katherine! That seems to be everyone’s thought: that MacBook Pro can’t fail. It’s definitely something for me to consider. And as for the Marc Jacobs case, I’m right there with you, sister! It’s adorable, hence why it made my list;). I like them all! Decisions, decisions…
